Terms of use
The rules for using OneLegacy’s family archives, our apps and the archive websites. Last updated: 28 October 2026.
1. Who we are
OneLegacy is a trading name of Brand Scouting Limited, a company registered in Malta (number C113759), registered office: Mercieca Suite 4, Triq It-Tabib Anton Tabone, Rabat, Għawdex VCT9020, Malta. In these terms “we” and “us” mean OneLegacy, and “you” means anyone who uses an archive, the apps or the archive websites.
By signing in to an archive or using our apps you agree to these terms. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
2. The service
- We build and run private family archives: photographs, films, documents, stories and family trees that a family keeps together. Some archives belong to a library or another organisation instead of a family; these terms apply to them in the same way.
- You reach an archive through its website (the family’s own address or
<name>.onelegacy.ie), the OneLegacy app or the Mulryan Family Legacy app. - An archive is invite-only. What is inside is seen only by the people the family has invited, according to the permissions it gives each of them. Some archives also have a public front page, with photographs the family has chosen to show.
- The family arranges its archive with us in a separate agreement, which covers price, term and what happens when it ends. These terms are about using the archive.
3. Accounts and invitations
- You can only join an archive if the people who look after it (its administrators) invite you, or accept your request to join. You need an account in each archive you belong to.
- You must be 18 or over to have an account, in the apps and on the websites.
- Keep your password to yourself, and tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used your account. You can turn on two-step sign-in, and see and sign out your phones, tablets and computers under Phones and tablets.
- The administrators decide who may see, add, change or download what in their archive, and can change it or remove a person at any time.
4. Archive rules: what you may add and how to behave
An archive is a shared family record. When you add photographs, films, documents, captions, names, stories or anything else:
- Add only what you have the right to add. Your own photographs and documents, the family’s own, or material whose owner agrees. Do not add other people’s copyright work without permission.
- Nothing offensive, abusive or illegal. No harassment, threats, hate, sexual content involving anyone under 18, sexually explicit material, graphic violence, or anything that breaks the law.
- Respect living people. Think before adding private details about people who are alive (health, addresses, relationships, children’s details), and remove them if the person asks. Treat the people named in an archive, and their memory, with respect.
- Be accurate and kind in captions and stories. If you are not sure of a fact, say so.
- Do not misuse the service: no attempts to reach archives or data you are not invited to, no spam, no malware, no automated copying.
5. Reporting, hiding and removal
- In the app you can report any photo, film or document, or the person who added it, if you think it breaks these rules (Details › Report this photo, or Report [name] beside “Added by”). The report goes to the archive’s administrators and to us at [email protected]; you can also write to us directly. What you report is hidden for you straight away.
- We look at every report within 24 hours. The administrators or we may remove the content, limit what a person can do, or remove the person from the archive. Removed items go to the archive’s Bin and are deleted for good after 30 days.
- In the app you can also hide an item, or everything a person adds (Hide what [name] adds, beside “Added by”). It is then left out for you, in the app and on the archive’s website. You can see and bring back what you hid with Show again: in the app under Settings › Hidden, on the website under My account › Hidden for me.
- We may remove content or close an account without notice if the law requires it, or to protect people from harm.
6. Who owns what
- You and the family keep all rights in what you add. We do not become the owner of any of it.
- By adding something, you allow us to store it, make copies of it (smaller previews, film versions, the archive’s backups), and show it to the archive’s members, according to the permissions the family sets. Where the family chooses, a photograph can also appear on the archive’s public front page. We use it only to run the family’s archive, and for nothing else unless the family agrees.
- This permission ends when the material is deleted from the archive (after the Bin’s 30 days, and our backups’ 35 days).
- The OneLegacy name, apps, websites and designs belong to us.
7. Leaving, deleting and closing
- You can leave an archive at any time, in the app or on the archive’s website. You choose whether what you added stays with the family or is deleted: see Leave an archive or delete your account.
- A family can ask for a full copy of its archive. If an archive is closed, it can be restored for 30 days and is then deleted with all its files.
- How we handle personal data, and how long we keep it, is in our privacy policy.
8. Our responsibility
We work to keep archives safe, private and available, and we keep backups. We cannot promise the service will never be interrupted. What members add is their own responsibility; we are not responsible for it, but we act on reports as set out above. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have by law.
9. Changes
We may change these terms. If a change matters for you, we tell the people it affects by email or in the app before it applies. The date at the top shows the latest version.
10. Contact
Questions, reports and complaints: [email protected].
